Dean Martin ‘Night Train To Memphis’
Wanna take the Night Train to Memphis? Today in 1951, on November 5, Dean Martin was recording “Night Train To Memphis” at Capitol Records’ Melrose studios in Los Angeles. The session went from 7PM to 11PM. The country-style tune has a great string section led by Dick Stabile and his orchestra and a rockin’ pre-Rock & Roll guitar solo performed by Vincent Terri. The song was originally a hit in the 1940s by Roy Acuff and could be considered a prelude to the rockabilly revolution of the mid-late 1950s. Listen here!
